Renault will be unveiling the new Megane RS at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

At last year’s Paris Motor Show they unveiled the Trophy Concept (above), a 3.5-litre V6 powered version of the new generation of Megane. Although that was a concept, it is expected to influence the design of the new Renaultsport Megane.

Sadly the V6 will be dropped, replaced by the 2.0-litre turbo engine from the Megane R26.R, tuned up to around 250bhp. Expect some of the styling of the Trophy to be carried over, so swollen wheelarches and oversized air ducts will feature. There is also likely to be a wider track, as well as Renault’s clever ‘double axis’ front suspension design that helps to reduce torque steer.

The car will appear in Geneva on 3rd March, and could go on sale as early as summer of this year.
