UK-based tuning firm APS has just revealed details of an engine upgrade for the latest Volkswagen Golf GTI.

With just an ECU remap APS have raised output from the 2.0-litre TFSI by 43bhp and 85lb-ft, with peaks increased to 250bhp and 292lb-ft.

This results in a useful drop in the 0-60mph time of 0.7 seconds, down to 6.2 seconds, a figure that happens to beat Volkswagen’s upcoming Scirocco R by two tenths. Top speed will be increased, although APS haven’t released an official figure yet.

If you’re interested, the upgrade costs £599 fitted and is available immediately. APS also offer a warranty on the conversion.
