Akrapovic has become a big name in the tuning industry. Quite rightly too, as their titanium exhausts turn a simple series of tubes attached to an engine into something resembling automotive art.
Usually they’re the preserve of high-end sports cars such as the Porsche 911 and McLaren 12C but now Akrapovic are turning their gaze to the hot hatch market. The result is this carbon-fibre and titanium masterpiece for the Volkswagen Golf GTI, one of their Titanium Slip-On range.
Not only does it look fantastic, it also loosens up the GTI’s airways a little and releases another 4hp and 7lb.ft. The carbon-fibre and titanium alloy construction will also shave a few grams off the weight of the Golf’s standard exhaust and diffuser too, although you’d probably save more weight by getting rid of any junk in your boot.
