Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf Will Be Under £18k

Alfa Romeo have confirmed the pricing for MiTo’s using their new MultiAir engines, and that includes the hot Cloverleaf version.

The new 1.4-litre turbocharged MultiAir engine is available in two power outputs. In the Lusso (£15,165) and Veloce (£16,135) models it will generate a reasonable 135bhp, while the performance-oriented Cloverleaf version (£17,895) will offer far more fun with 170bhp. While there’s no official annoncement of performance figures for either engine, Alfa are keen to stress the reduced emissions and fuel consumption and increased performance that the new MultiAir technology brings.

Standard equipment for the Cloverleaf is generous and includes Active suspension, 17″ alloy wheels, LED tail lights, air conditioning and a scattering of carbon-fibre look-a-like trim. ALFA ROMEO UK ANNOUNCES MITO MULTIAIR PRICES

Alfa Romeo UK has just announced pricing of its revolutionary MultiAir engined MiTo range, set to arrive here in spring 2010. From launch, two engine versions will become available – the 135 bhp 1.4 Turbo, and the top-of-the-range 170 bhp 1.4 Turbo which will carry the iconic Alfa Cloverleaf badge.

Available to order through the Alfa Romeo UK dealer network from early January 2010, the MiTo’s MultiAir engine range marks the next technological step in the vehicle’s already successful life – promising lower emissions and fuel consumption together with higher performance and greater driving pleasure – with Active Suspension as standard on the 170bhp Cloverleaf model.

Cloverleaf Is Back On Alfa Romeo Mito

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Quadrifoglio Verde badge on an Alfa Romeo (better known as Cloverleaf here in the UK) but at long last the sporty badge has returned on a new Alfa Romeo Mito.

The Mito Cloverleaf is filling in the gap left by the posponed Mito GTA. Powered by a 170bhp 1.4-litre engine it lacks the ultimate firepower that was promised by the GTA, but it sits at the top of the Mito range as the most powerful version on offer.

The new engine uses the same Multi-air technology that has been introduced on the Fiat Punto Evo to improve both performance and economy. There are no performance figures just yet, but Alfa are claiming the Mito Cloverleaf will return 49mpg despite the promise of 170bhp. This is helped by a new six-speed transmission that has been designed to deliver quicker changes and improved fuel efficiency.

Alfa have also added a ‘Dynamic Suspension’ with continuously variable shock absorbers claiming the new setup “allows the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde to excel even further in terms of agility and handling, giving it exceptional drivability and unparalleled safety.”

Alfa Romeo MiTo Imola Edition

The Alfa Romeo Mito Imola is going to be a rare sight on our roads, and I mean really, really rare. First, Alfa are only going to build 150 Imola editions and second, they’re all destined to reach Japan this November.

This gorgeous little MiTo is painted in Imola Yellow and is decked out with some very nice 18-inch wheels covering red brake calipers. The final touch is some chromed wing mirror caps to help the Alfa spotters distinguish them from lesser MiTos. On the inside you’ll find special Pelle Frau leather, flott mats with Imola Yellow accents, and a small ‘Imola’ plaque on the dashboard.

Nice, isn’t it? Makes you wonder what we have to do to get such a limited edition here in the UK.

Alfa Mito GTA Under Threat

An unnamed source at Alfa Romeo is reportedly claiming that the Alfa Romeo Mito GTA may not make it into full production.

Autocar are quoting the anonymous Alfa spokesman as saying “There are question marks about the project but there is an unashamed keenness to get the green light.” Officially the car was never more than a concept, and with the effects of the global financial meltdown still being felt Alfa are nervous about bringing a high-performance hatch to the market.

The concept version has already made an appearance at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, as well as in the video below where it stars alongside a classic ’60s Alfa Junior. Should the Mito GTA get the green light for production it is now expected to be delayed until 2010 at the earliest.

Alfa Romeo MiTo On Sale Today

The Alfa Romeo Mito is available to buy from today.

While the range may be missing the hottest Mito GTA (with a rumoured 230bhp), you can still pick up a 1.4-litre turbo that gives 155bhp. Hardly the stuff of hot hatch fantasies, but it still gives 134mph and 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds.

Based on the Fiat Grande Punto platform, the MiTo represents the cheapest way to get yourself a new Alfa Romeo. While the Grande Punto might form the starting point for the mechanicals, the bodywork is all Alfa and borrows some of the design cues from the V8-powered sublime 8C Competizione.

There are three trim levels available – Turismo, Veloce and Lusso. Prices range from £11,528 up to £14,661.

Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA Confirmed For 2009

Good news for fans of Italian thoroughbreds – next summer there’ll be a new competitor in the premium hot hatch market, and that will be the gorgeous Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA.

If you haven’t already seen it, the MiTo is Alfa Romeo’s new supermini that is due to hit UK showrooms early next year. Pitched below the 147, it’s aimed squarely at the MINI. If it’s a straight fight on looks alone, the MiTo will win without breaking a sweat.

The MiTo GTA will use a turbocharged 1750cc engine with direct injection and variable valve timing to generate upwards of 230bhp, which takes it straight into the hot hatch premier league. Never mind the supermini-sized competition, the MiTo GTA will be taking the fight to the bigger family hatchbacks such as the Focus ST, Astra VXR and Leon Cupra.

The engine size is no coincedence, being the same capacity as used by the beautiful Alfa Romeo Giulia and Giuliettas back in the 1960s.

If the MiTo is to be a success it will need to steal some sales from the MINI, but being an Alfa Romeo it will most likely have more discerning customers – I can’t see many estate agents running to the Alfa Romeo showrooms as they have done with the MINI, and that’s got to be a good thing.

No official word on prices yet, but expect the MiTo GTA to be pretty close to the MINI Cooper S at £16,245.
