This year’s Le Mans 24 Hours proved to be an absolute belter, with an intense battle between the Audi and Peugeot teams for outright victory that involved high speed smashes and questionable tactics. There was plenty of action in the lower classes too as the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin traded places while trying to keep out of the way of the flying LM prototypes.

You probably know the result already, but if you missed the action and don’t know or just want to remind yourself of what happened in an action-packed 24 hours, watch these highlights:

The McNish crash was a particularly shocking moment from the race, a huge smash that could so easily have been a tragedy. Watch the video below and see just how close McNish’s car and its wreckage came to hitting the spectators. Just as amazing is watching McNish climb out of the mangled shell of his Audi R18 and walk away, a true testament to the safety technology used in motorsport.

Not sure what was wrong with the tactics? With Audi leading but down to just one car after the McNish and Rockenfeller crashes, one of Peugeot’s lapped drivers started to make it extremely difficult for the lone Audi to pass them despite being four laps down. Were they looking for an accident or just trying to help their chasing team-mates catch up?
