Just in case you have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of months or hadn’t spotted the two trailers (one and two) I posted earlier, you’ll be pleased to know that Top Gear is back on the telly this Sunday. Now if you’re the sort of person who likes to keep their TV viewing a surprise you may want to look away now, but if you’d like to know what’s coming up in the seven episodes of season 13 then read on.

Jeremy Clarkson On Steam Train

In this Sunday’s show we’ll be treated to a new TG race as Jeremy, James and Richard take various forms of classic transport in a dash from London to Edinburgh. Surprisingly Jeremy chooses a steam train, so we’ll get to see how good he is at shovelling coal. James opts for a Jaguar XK120, while Richard takes a Vincent Black Shadow motorbike. Pictures have already emerged of James and Jeremy in the middle of a wedding ceremony in Edinburgh, but where was the Hamster?

In show two we’ll be treated to a 3000hp supercar head-to-head, with the likes of the Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1 and Lamborghini Murcielago SV being thrashed around a race track in Saudi Arabia.

The third show will feature a new challenge, to buy three cars suitable for the credit-crunch that “won’t make you miserable”. Meanwhile, Captain Slow is sent to meet Ken Block … yes, the man now famous for his insane driving skills thanks to his gymkhana videos (one and two) going viral on the internet.

There are more stars in the reasonably priced car, including Stephen Fry and Michael MacIntyre, as well as an appearance by Herr Schumacher himself in a Ferrari FXX.

Cars on test include the Mercedes SL Black, Lotus Evora, Audi R8 V10, Corvette ZR1 and BMW z4, with direct comparisons including Ford Focus RS vs. Renault Megane R26.R and Jaguar XFR versus BMW M5.

There’s plenty of other fun throughout the series, including recreating the Cadburys ad that featured racing airport trucks, and James and Richard attempting to make an advert for the VW Scirocco.

So don’t forget – Sunday evening, 8.00 on BBC2!
