First Advert For New Volkswagen Golf

The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf officially goes on sale this month so it’s time to fire up the publicity machine and try to get some punters into showrooms. One of the opening salvos is this new video.

It’s a simple advert with a simple message – the Golf is ‘born again’. The video certainly shows off the sharper creases of the Golf’s new clothes but is it enough to convince buyers that this is an all-new model?

Where the Mk6 was a warmed over Mk5 the Mk7 is completely new and is built on the Volkswagen group’s latest MQB platform. That brings with it a new chassis, revised engines and new multimedia technologies but with the Mk7 looking so much like the outgoing model will buyers take notice? Let’s hope Volkswagen’s marketing brains will be able to get the message through.
