Despite the official unveiling of the Volkswagen Golf VI being only two days away, images have leaked onto the internet of the latest version of the ever popular car.

Although there are are no technical clues available and no hint at what a GTI might eventually look like, the images do at least show that this is another subtle evolution in the development of the Golf.

You can see the similarities with the recently released Scirocco at the front, with similar headlight and grill treatment while at the rear the lights have been sharpened up a bit.

In fact the whole car looks sharper than the soft-edged MkV, with more defined creases and a little more attitude to its stance. While these are just publicity images, it’s obvious that the new Golf will be a handsome car.

Expect more news on Wednesday after the car’s official unveiling to the world’s hungry motoring press. The car is due to appear in public at the Paris Motor Show in October, with sales due to start in Europe before the end of the year.
