Mini Announces JCW World Championship 50 Edition

Mini have released details of a very limited edition. Based on the hottest model in the Mini range, the John Cooper Works World Championship 50 edition (or WC50 if you want fewer syllables) will be a cosmetic makeover of the standard John Cooper Works edition.

Only 250 WC50s will be built with 100 allocated to the UK, which will make this a very exclusive Mini. It will be painted in Connaught Green, a shade that was popular in the ’60s and will be exclusive to the WC50. The green paint will be complemented by a Pepper White roof and bonnet stripes (that will include John Cooper’s signature on the driver side). There are also black 17-inch Challenge alloy wheels and a scattering of carbon-fibre parts.

Even though the WC50 is ‘only’ based on the standard JCW, that still means it offers 211bhp from its 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, making it capable if 0-62mph in just 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 148mph.

Prices are not yet confirmed, but an announcement is expected on 22nd June and is predicted to be in excess of £30k.
