BBM Tunes Golf GTI Plus

If Volkswagen were hoping to deter their customers from turning to tuners for more power, they were wrong. The Performance Pack offered with the Mk7 GTI gives buyers the chance to add another 10PS for a sum (£995, if you’re asking) but the difference in power is barely noticeable.

So GTI buyers are still going to go knocking on the doors of the aftermarket tuners to get their fix. We’ve already seen a 299bhp GTI from HG Motorsport but here comes BBM (Bahn Brenner Motorsport) with their own version that manages 300bhp.

The list of modifications to the 2.0 litre four-cylinder TFSI engine is short. An ECU remap accounts for most of the extra power and a new sports exhaust system liberates a bit more. The result is 300HP at 6,100RPM and 440Nm (326 lb-ft) of torque at 2,150RPM, increases of 70HP and 90Nm. BBS have fitted their demo car with a few other upgrades including a Stoptech braking system with 328 x 25 mm four-piston calipers, KW coilovers with adjustable damping and ride height (lower by 20 to 55 mm). The wheels are a set of BBS 19-inch CH-R rims finished in titan gray paint.

The only downside is that you may have to go to BBM in Germany in order to get the ECU remap. BBM parts are available through a number of UK stockists but you’ll need to check the prices.
