Citroen DS3 Is Seeing Red

We’ve had a black one, we’ve had a white one, and now we’re going to get a Citroen DS3 Red Edition.

Citroen DS3 Red

DS3 Red available in DStyle or DSport trim

You’ll have no trouble spotting the DS3 Red. Complementing the Polar White or Perla Nera Black paintwork is a bright red roof, red door mirrors and red highlights around the grille. The red theme continues on the inside with the upper half of the dashboard painted in the same glossy shade. It’s not so much red as ‘RED!’ and possibly not the sort of thing you want to be greeted by after a night on the ale, but it does brighten up the DS3’s interior.

The Red edition can be ordered in either DStyle or Dsport specification level. If you opt for the DStyle you get 16-inch ‘Ashera’ wheels, the DSport gets 17-inch ‘Bellona’ wheels, and on both the wheels are painted black or white to match the body.

The DSport Red is the better equipped of the two and comes with Citroen’s ‘City Signature’ pack as standard. That adds automatic headlights and wipers, rear parking sensors, heated and folding door mirrors. There’s also interior ‘mood’ lighting, although quite how well that will work with the bright red dash remains to be seen.

Both models come with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as an upgraded stereo system.

The DS3 Red’s interior may not be a very good hangover cure

Engine wise you can have a DStyle with a 1.6 VTI engine with 120bhp or a 90bhp e-HDi diesel that’s good for 76.3mpg and 98g/km. The DSport benefits from the quicker but almost as frugal 115bhp diesel (74.4mpg and 99g/km) but its the turbocharged VTi 155 petrol engine that elevates the DS3 into warm hatch territory.

Price start at £15,655 for the DStyle Red with the VTi engine and top out at £18,060 for the diesel DSport Red. White paint is standard but you’ll have to pay another £480 for the pearliescent black.
