There have been a few rumours as to what Ford will be showing on their stand at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show. Most centred around a performance version of the Focus, alternating between the final version of the ST and a concept version of the next RS.
Ford has now confirmed that it will be the Focus ST that will be the star of its stand, but they will also be showing a concept car that hints at the future of design for the company.
“Ford plans to make a strong statement at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with several very exciting global product reveals and our significantly expanded show stand. We’re excited to be showing customers our best-ever vehicle line-up and a special glimpse of the future.” – Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe
The new Focus ST will drop the thirsty 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine from the old model in favour of a cleaner and more powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is tipped to have 247bhp and a six-speed manual gearbox, but I guess we’ll find out more in September.
