The Nissan Juke R has to be one the most barking mad cars that have been built for some time by a major manufacturer. Taking a compact SUV and squeezing in the engine and drivetrain from a Nissan GT-R sounds like a recipe for messy handling and huge amounts of body roll.
By all accounts Nissan’s engineers have worked wonders with the Juke-R to produce a supercar-rivalling SUV that handles just as well as the coupe that donated it’s innards.
So has the Juke-R has got enough performance and handling prowess to see off a selection of supercars? There’s only one way to find out … supercar fight!
Fortunately for us, Nissan were on hand to record the outcome. They’re about to release a short film, directed by Award-winning film director Rob Kaplan, that is shot in incredible high definition using state of the art camera technology.
The man behind the wheel is Lucas Ordonez, who shot to professional racing fame when he won the Gran Turismo Academy and went on to race a Nissan 350Z in the 2011 Le Mans 24Hr (finishing 2nd in class). In the film, Lucas is challenged to race the Juke-R against Salah Salahuddin’s supercar collection in Dubai.
Sounds like it should be fun, but we’ve got another couple of days to wait for the final film. In the meantime Nissan have been kind enough to whet our appetites with some trailers that show off some of the supercar rivals, as well as the beautiful quality of the high-definition recording and slow-motion video capture.
Can the Nissan Juke-R see off the supercar elite? We’ll find out in a couple of days but for now … place your bets!
