Peugeot Gets Red, Hot & Spicy

Peugeot RCZ R

Think of the colour red and which nation springs to mind? Chances are you’re thinking of the Spanish and their national flag, their football team, flamenco dancers and bull fighting. Yes, it may be a cliché, but it’s one the Spanish tourist board is happy to promote.

What about Morocco though? For a start their national flag is red, just like the Spaniards who are only a few hundred miles to the North.

Moroccan thermometers are permanently in the red, thanks to the hot winds that blow over from the Sahara to the East and bake the country at nearly 40 degrees in summer.

There’s the famous mineral rich red clay that’s mined from the Atlas Mountains and has been used by Moroccan women to enhance their skin and hair for centuries. Technically it’s more of a terracotta but it’s sort of reddish.

Red is also the predominant colour of the fragrant and powerful spices that are used in the nation’s cooking. So you could say that Morocco is red, hot and spicy. Sounds a bit like the Peugeot RCZ R.

It’s no coincedence that the brightest shade in the RCZ R’s colour chart is named after the Saharan country. Metallic Moroccan Red is the highlight of the range, the other choices being a more mundane mixture of monochrome shades – black, white and silver.

We drove the Peugeot RCZ R recently and it certainly isn’t a cool customer. It’s a fizzing ball of energy, an angry thing when provoked. Red is definitely the R’s colour and judging by this video from Peugeot, they think so too.
