The Seat Leon Linea R is another one of those special editions designed to breath a bit of life into an ageing range.
But that’s not to say that the Linea R is in any way bad. It’s designed to fit in the Leon range between the sporty FR and the hot Cupra, so is immediately worthy of interest.
The Linea R takes the basic ingredients of the FR and adds a little more visual flair. The front and rear bumpers are more aggressively styled, with fake air-vents for that motorsport look. There are also new twin exhaust pipes at the rear and, of course, a unique set of alloy wheels, this time a set of 18-inchers with a 5-spoke design. On the inside you’ll find a new leather steering wheel and a leather gearknob with the “SEAT Sport” logo embossed into its surface.
There’s a choice of two petrol engines – a 160bhp 1.8-litre TSI and a 200bhp 2.0-litre TSI as featured in the Golf GTI, and the 2.0-litre TSI can be specified with a DSG gearbox. There’s also the choice of a torquey 170bhp diesel engine if you want to save a bit of money at the pumps.
