The price of the 2020 MINI GP John Cooper Works has just been announced and it might just make your eyes water. Even though this is the fastest model ever produced in the 60-year history of the brand, it’s going to be offered in the UK at a bank-balance-busting price of £34,995 OTR.
On the plus side this is going to be a limited edition run of 3,000 vehicles, all built at Oxford’s MINI Plant. MINI are claiming that the new GP John Cooper Works will set ‘new standards for performance in the premium small car segment’. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine will deliver 306hp while MINI also boast ‘individual chassis technology’ and ‘aerodynamically optimized body features’.
If you hold any value on Norschleife times you’ll be keen to hear that the new GP has already recorded a lap time of less than eight minutes, although the lack of a specific time suggests the GP John Cooper Works won’t be threatening the 7m 40.1s set by the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R.
The new MINI GP John Cooper Works will make its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in California, open to the public from 22 November to 1 December 2019.
