The latest incarnation of the Skoda Fabia vRS will be hitting the streets of the UK on 29th July. The 1.4-litre TSI-powered hatchback will offer 180bhp and come with a seven-speed DSG transmission as standard, and for the first time it will also be available in an estate version.

Add to that a combined economy of 45mpg and emissions of just 148 g/km of CO2 (VED band F) and the new vRS sticks to the same successful recipe as the old model – strong performance with low running costs.

The Fabia vRS comes complete with a few new acronyms – ESP, HHC (hill hold control), TPM (tyre pressure monitor) and XDS, the electronic differential that limits wheelspin and improves traction.

It should be easy to spot thanks to 17-inch ‘Gigaro’ alloy wheels, LED daylight running lights and a sportier body kit. There’s tinted glass on the rear windows and you can also choose to have a white or black roof.

Inside, the vRS boasts figure-hugging vRS sports seats, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with radio controls and paddles for changing gear and connectivity for iPods and other mp3 players.

So how much will it cost? Prices start at £15,700 on-the-road for the hatchback, while the estate starts at £16,495.
