Last Sunday’s Top Gear ended on a rather sombre note, with Jeremy’s downbeat tribute to the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. I thought it was a wonderfully filmed item that allowed the beauty of the V12 Vantage to shine through. A gorgeous car with a sublime 12-cylinder soundtrack amidst stunning scenery – what more could you ask for?
However, while it was the the last show in season 13, Jeremy was expressing his sadness about the likely fate of the supercar and not … I repeat, NOT … the end of Top Gear.
As usual the inerneteers and twitterers have gone crazy and started bemoaning the death of Top Gear, despite (what I thought) a fairly clear message. Jeremy was expressing his sadness about the possible demise of cars like the V12 Vantage, thanks to environmental and economic pressures, not the end of TV’s greatest car show. Why don’t people listen?
Well, you can calm down as our favourite show is going to return for a 14th season. According to Jezza himself, “I can assure everyone I’ll be back in November doing Top Gear. We’re filming the next series and already have several things in the can. I couldn’t think of anything I’d want to do more.”
So there you go – Top Gear will return with season 14 in November. Now stop moaning and go and watch some Top Gear repeats on Dave, or watch the piece again below.
If you watch this again, a bit more closely, you may notice that in all of the cabin shots the background may be changing, but the speedo remains at 0mph. He is sat in a stationary car, engine off and the background is green screened. for other shots though it seems to have been filmed in Wales. I think I heard that the coming series, to be aired in mid November apparently will be the last as the BBC no longer find the funding. I may be mistaken though. Its a shame, all of what he says in this piece is true. I just hope that the supercar breed can hold on for just a while longer, Dan
Hang on, according to FinalGear the show may be returning on November 15th.
Also, if you’re lucky enough to have an HDTV then you’ll be pleased to know that from November Top Gear is also going to be broadcast in fancy-pants HD.
There’s no official date yet, although in his last column in The Sun (19th September) Jeremy said that the show has been pushed back to 9pm to avoid clashing with the bloody X-Factor.
What date in november does top gear start
