The standard Fiat 500 1.3 diesel is a car in desperate need of a performance boost, particularly when compared to the perky little Abarth 500.
With only 75bhp the performance from the 1.3 Multijet diesel could best be described as adequate, but once the guys at tuning company Mcchip get their hands on it things get noticeably better. With a simple ECU upgrade, costing €500, the diesel powerplant is boosted up to 95bhp. Not initially very impressive, but torque is also increased to 136lb.ft (up from 107lb.ft) giving the little retro-Fiat a more useful spread grunt.
Mcchip have also released a new set of alloys. For €1,099 you can have a full set of 17-inch Black Diamond alloy wheels fitted with 195/40 R17 Hankook S1 Evo tyres.
