You’ve got to love Renaultsport and the approach they take to hot hatches. First of all they give us the Renaultsport Twingo, a 133bhp mini-hatch that is really great fun to drive in standard form and then they offer it with an optional Cup chassis that improves the handling even more.
Now, they have released the Renaultsport Twingo Cup and it takes the fun factor even further. As the name suggests the Cup chassis is now standard (it was a £650 option), but on top of that Renaultsport have stripped out some of the creature comforts to give us an even more driver-oriented hot hatch.
The air-conditioning is gone, as are the automatic headlights and wipers, and the independent sliding rear seats have been replaced with a simpler single bench. What this means is a lighter car and, even better, a much lower price. At £11,795 the Twingo Cup is £700 cheaper than a standard Renaultsport Twingo and a massive £1,350 cheaper than one with the optional Cup chassis.
Seems like an absolute bargain to me, and with the money you’ve saved you could tick the option box for those stylish anthraxrite 17-inch alloys (a snip at £175). Another option is the ‘Black and White’ Renault i.d. pack at £150, which offers Glacier White bodywork with a contrasting gloss black finish to the door mirrors, rear spoiler and front bumper trims.
The Renaultsport Twingo Cup is available to order now for delivery in November.
