Abarth are set to wow their home fans at the Bologna motor show with a number of new cars. There are two new models based on the 500, a 500-derived race car and this, the Abarth Punto Scorpione.

Abarth Punto Scorpione

The Abarth Punto scorpione is going to be a limited run of just ninety-nine cars, all decked out in Nero Scorpione black paint with matte black bonnet and roof.

The scorpione gets the engine modifications from the Punto’s Esseesse kit, lifting the output of the 1.4-litre Multi-Air from 165bhp to 180bhp with torque of 199 lb/ft. The Abarth Punto scorpione can hit 135 mph flat out accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.5 seconds.

Alongside the engine tuning are upgrades to the chassis and brakes. The front brakes get a total overhaul with a set of floating, perforated and self-ventilated discs with yellow four-piston calipers clamping a set of performance brake pads, while the rear gets a set of perforated discs.

Koni shock absorbers with a FSD (Frequency Selective Dumping) valve are fitted front and rear and the ride height is dropped by fitting a set of new springs. Look around the back and you’ll also find the centre-mounted exhaust pipe from the ‘Esseesse’ kit.

On the inside the Abarth Punto scorpione gets unique Sabelt leather seats, with red and yellow stitching and matte black backrest and a leather steering wheel with the same stitching. Aluminium kick plates adorn the door sills, Abarth-branded stainless steel pedals are fitted and there’s a set of Jaeger driving instruments in the dashboard.

So far so typical for a limited edition, but what you might not realise is that the stickers on the roof and bonnet match the free snowboard. Yes, this Punto comes with a snowboard.

Abarth have teamed up with snowboard-maker Nitro to produce this limited edition, so the stickers on roof and bonnet match the “Nitro Powered by Abarth” design found on the underneath of the snowboard.

In keeping with the snowboarding theme, the Abarth Punto scorpione comes with a special Abarth Nitro winter pack that includes 17-inch wheels wrapped in winter tyres and a magnetic snowboard rack. Want the Abarth Nitro snowboard and rack but don’t want a Punto? You can specify the same kit for the Abarth 500, although the wheels are downgraded to 16″ steel items.
