Here are the last two F-Type videos from Jaguar, just in time for the public unveiling of the 2-seater convertible on Thursday, 27th September at the Paris Motor Show.
In ‘Focused’ we see the F-Type undergoing testing at the Nurburgring. Here the team were concentrating on chassis, damping and braking setup as well as configuring the various electronic safety systems. Test driver Dirk Schoysman has put in over 16,000 laps of the Nurburgring, allowing him to concentrate on what the F-Type is doing rather than worrying which one of the Nordschleife’s many corners is coming next.
The action then moves to the Nardo Proving Ground (or the Pista di prova di Nardò della Fiat, to give it its full name) in Italy for ‘Fierce’. This is where the F-Type’s durability and reliability were put to the test in ambient temperatures of over 40c.
Hurtling around the Nardo’s 7.8 mile circular track at speeds of over 180mph puts a huge strain on the 5.0-litre V8 engine and fluid temperatures can reach 150c. The Jaguar team needed to be sure that the F-Type’s engine was capable of handling such stresses even if owners are unlikely to ever push it that far. The car was run with the throttle pinned to the bulkhead for as long as possible, limited only by how long the fuel and tyres will last.
