At the moment the most exciting Alfa Romeo MiTo you can buy is powered by a 155bhp 1.4-litre engine. There is a more powerful Mito GTA in the pipeline with a rumoured 200+bhp, but if you had to buy a MiTo today and you needed more power where would you go? To Novitec Rosso, that’s where.
Novitec have launched a range of tuning products aimed at the 1.4-litre petrol engine and the two diesel engines. The petrol unit is boosted to 186bhp thanks to a new ECU that takes all of 5 minutes to install. The 0-60mph sprint drops by 0.7s to 7.4s. It’s a similar upgrade for the two diesel engines, with the 1.3 JTD gaining 20bhp and the 1.6 JTD gaining 24bhp, while torque on both goes up by about 37lb.ft.
Chassis tweaks include a spring swap that lowers the ride height by 40mm, or you can choose to fit new height-adjustable coil-over suspension with adjustable dampers that lower the ride height by anything between 35mm and 65mm. These are said to improve handling, which might inject a bit of life into the standard MiTo’s excitement-free chassis.
Novitec have also developed a range of cosmetic tweaks, starting with a new bodykit. Bumper corners at the front add some extra attitude, while at the rear is a new spoiler and a diffuser that’s said to increase downforce. Last but not least is a new Novitec sports exhaust that can be specified with one, two or four tailpipes. The makeover is finished off with a set of 18-inch alloys, available in either silver or black finish, that are wrapped in 215/35 R18 Pirelli rubber.
