A hot new Peugeot RCZ R is set to make an appearance at the Paris Motor Show and also showcase the French coupe’s refreshed styling.

It may be billed as a concept but the Peugeot RCZ R is almost certain to become a reality, making it Peugeot’s most powerful production model ever.
The RCZ-R will be powered by a 260bhp version of the familiar 1.6-litre THP. A quick tap on the calculator means that Peugeot Sport are somehow squeezing 160bhp per litre from the THP unit, and yet CO2 emissions are expected to remain below 160g/km.
To contain those rampant Gallic ponies a proper mechanical limited-slip differential will be fitted to the front axle, while a revised suspension setup promises even sharper handling. It’s a package that will no doubt lead to comparisons with the 269bhp Audi TT-S and even the entry-level Porsche Cayman with 265bhp .
The concept uses matt black paint and copper detailing to great effect but will we see that make it into production? We’ll have to wait until late 2013 to find out.

The RCZ R also shows us the new look for the rest of the RCZ range. A revised nose brings the new corporate face, as seen on the 208, with a split grille replacing the larger item on the current model. The headlights are subtly changed while LED running lights are slotted into the new lower grille.

Due to arrive in 2013, the revised RCZ will feature more equipment as standard and add more options to enhance the appearance of this already lovely coupe.
The engine choice remains the same with the 1.6-litre THP available in 156bhp and 200bhp tune, and a CO2 friendlier HDI version with 163bhp.
