A Ford Fiesta ST being driven sideways at speed through city streets? Must be that Block bloke again.
Well actually no, it’s Andreas Eriksson, boss of the OlbersMSE Rallycross team. It’s also got nothing to do with DC Shoes or the Gymkhana films either. It’s actually a promotional film that’s part of a bid by the city of Detroit to host a round of the Global Rallycross championship, which is heading Stateside after a number of European races.
The Ford Fiesta ST is proving to be a huge success in the series and has taken Ford to the top of the manufacturers’ table, so it seemed like the logical choice for the film. Of course, Ford and OlbersMSE were only too happy to oblige. If you’re in any doubt, the Fiesta ST Rallycross is quick. It’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0- litre petrol engine with 550HP being channeled through a four-wheel drive system. 62mph arrives in a scarcely believable 2.0 seconds!
If you’re familiar with Detroit then you’ll enjoy seeing some of the sights of the city, otherwise just sit back and enjoy a couple of minutes of sideways hoonage.
