While many of us are still getting over the shock of Subaru dropping out of the WRC, there’s still some motorsport fun available for fans of the marque. The Scooby Sprint Championship will be kicking off its first round on the 19th April at York and it’s shaping up to be a cracking series.
If you’ve not heard of the Scooby Sprint Championship, it’s a UK-based 5 round series that is open to Subarus only. It caters for all levels of competitor, from novice to professional drivers and from private entries to fully funded constructor teams. Competitors compete against the clock in their road-going or race-prepared Subarus on a coned course. The fastest time wins, and Championship Points are awarded for the top seven in each eligibility group. At the end of the season, the points are totalled, and the winners crowned.
At the moment there are over 20 competitors registered as well as four constructor teams and, as if to make up for the lack of WRC action, ProDrive will be there with a WRC2008-spec Impreza. If you’re interested in watching the events live you can see four of the rounds at Elvington, near York, while the remaining round is at Santa Pod, Northants.
