Bringing a splash of luxury and sportiness to the Twingo range, the Gordini Twingo 133 is about to hit UK showrooms.
Decked out in Malta Blue metallic paint with contrasting twin white racing stripes, the Gordini Twingo 133 echoes the look of the famous Gordini racing cars of the 50s and 60s. Thankfully the Twingo is a thoroughly modern car that takes the feisty little Renaultsport Twingo 133 and adds a generous level of kit.
That means you get a sports chassis that combines with the responsive steering to give some very entertaining handling. The responsive 1.6-litre 133hp petrol engine keeps things moving at a respectable rate while the distinctive, tuned exhaust brings a smile to the face as the little Twingo races up the rev range.
The Gordini spec adds 17-inch alloy wheels with a polished face and black inner rim. On the outside there are various bits of glass black and gloss white trim, while inside the blue theme continues with Renaultsport seats with extra lateral support clothed in dark grey leather with blue details and Gordini-embossed logo. Blue detailing continues on to the door panels, the gearlever gaiter and Gordini-badged gearknob. The steering wheel is finished in blue and dark grey leather with two white stripes to indicate the centre point, whilst the rev counter pod is also in blue with a white face.
An exclusive plate will show the build number of the 200 examples that will come to the UK.
In addition to the current Renaultsport 133 version, Twingo Gordini 133 features climate control, automatic headlight and wiper activation, cruise control, speed limiter, ESC, 4x20W radio-CD with fingertip steering wheel-mounted remote control and separate display, Bluetooth connectivity, multifunctional TunePoint for personal music players (iPod, MP3) and extra-tinted rear windows.
You can also personalise your Gordini 133 with optional Pearl Black paint instead of Malta Blue, the Cup chassis (lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers), Gordini wheels with a blue inner rim, curtain airbags and an electrically-operated panoramic sunroof (no roof stripes when fitted).
So how much does this cost? This high-spec Twingo 133 will cost £14,500 on the road, making it almost £2,500 more than a Twingo Cup. Personally I’ll take the Twingo Cup every time but if you want a junior hot hatch with high spec and a level of exclusivity then the Gordini Twingo 133 could be the car for you.
