The Ford Focus RS is a fantastic hot hatch in standard trim, with 305bhp from its 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine, but thanks to German tuners Mcchip the Focus RS now packs an even mightier punch – 401bhp!
Mcchip are offering two upgrade kits. The Stage 1 kit is a simple ECU upgrade that lifts power from 305bhp to 345 bhp (torque is up from 44Nm to ‘at least’ 520Nm), with a resulting top speed of 169mph.
The full-fat 401bhp is available with the Stage 2 kit. With an enhanced intercooler, sports exhaust, modified inlet manifold (that includes new tubing) and upgraded spark plugs the 2.5-litre engine also produces 612Nm of torque, enough to give those front wheels a huge handful even with Ford’s Revo-Knuckle system. With the Stage 2 kit fitted the Focus RS’s top speed goes up to 173mph.
Hi Cboyz. I can’t personally upgrade your car but there are plenty of tuners around Europe who will. You should be able to get about 250bhp with an ECU remap but it might take a bit of work to the turbo to get you up to 300bhp. Look for companies like amdtechnik.com, vagtech.co.uk or abt-sportsline.co.uk.
