If you’re lucky enough to own a Volkswagen Golf R then you should be interested to see what APS of Brackley are offering.
They’ve just unveiled a new range of performance and styling mods for the 275 bhp Golf R, with up to 330bhp up for grabs, and even more power coming soon.
There are currently two stages of tuning available for the Golf R’s 2.0-litre TFSI engine. Stage One consists of a well proven and thoroughly developed ECU remap, which raises peak power to 308 bhp. This is priced at £445, including VAT and fitting in APS’s own workshop.
The Stage Two package takes things further and has involved a lot more development work by APS. Stage Two includes a Milltek large bore turbo down pipe, high flow sports catalyst and a choice of Milltek stainless steel sports exhausts, featuring a switchable electronic exhaust valve, 2.75 inch bore tubing and dual 100mm ceramic black tailpipes.
If you want Stage 2 you can choose between a Milltek non-resonated cat-back system which emphasises the Golf R’s exhaust note, or you can go for more refinement with a resonated Milltek cat back exhaust.
The Milltek Sport exhaust makes the exhaust gas flow far more efficiently and raises peak power to around 320-330bhp, depending on which of the two exhausts is chosen. Priced from £1,999 fitted including VAT, the APS Stage 2 Golf R upgrade is available now.
Not enough? Then wait for the Stage 3 package, which is in development now. This will include a revised turbocharger and around 350 bhp.
As well as the tuning packages APS offer a range of chassis upgrades for the Volkswagen Golf R that include:-
- Three way adjustable Haldex Gen4 four wheel drive controller
- Sports lowering springs
- KW height and damping adjustable coilover suspension
- Uprated suspension bushes
- Brembo GT big brake kits
- 18 and 19 inch Sportec Mono 10 forged alloy wheels with Toyo tyres
