Congratulations to Seat, who have won both the driver and manufacturer titles in the 2008 World Touring Car Championship.
Victory was sealed earlier this week when Rickard Rydell won the Japanese round of the championship at the Okayama International Circuit. Even though there are two rounds left to go, Seat have built enough of a points lead to guarantee the manufacturers title, and the only two contenders for the drivers title are Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini – both SEAT drivers.
The Seat Leon TDI is the first diesel-engined car to win the WTCC, winning 11 of the 22 rounds so far. Seat’s nearest competitors were BMW with just six victories, while Chevrolet followed with three and Honda one. See, I told you diesel cars could be quick.
The remaining two rounds, 23 and 24, will be held in Macau on 15/16 November.
